WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
I am a servant. I sit with clay, (/journal/ paint/ move on my mat) and creation happens. For the pleasure and the need of it.
Sometimes I have sketches, words, or inspirations that come at sporadic moments of the day, what they call 'illuminations,' whether reading, studying, driving my bike, on a walk with my dog, after yoga, etc, or during the clay practice itself. These can be the threads to pull to create a piece, while or, I just make.
I sit regularly
(discipline?) As a responsibility of a practice that teaches me to live and to love.
It is a shower for the self, blurriness, confusion and tensions have the opportunity to be washed and new space be for silence, the mind befriends to listen to the heart. The creation with my hands is then the result of a conversation with inside depths. I recognise the process because it brings me to the very present. With the pulsations of the tiny moves within me, that, when the in lits up the in-joy.
It’s not always comfortable and pleasant; when there are intrigues or unknown feelings, etc., it is a space for them to find a territory of peace. Whether for contemplation that leads me to understanding or simply for listening with more grace and kindness. The creative practice helps hold myself in wholeness, no matter how I woke up or how my day has been. Sometimes something dissolves.
Afterwards, I feel lighter and can continue with the rest of the day or go to sleep!
WHY DO YOU WORK WITH CLAY?
Because when I approached clay at the edge of 23 was is the first time ever I felt gifted.
I love that it is a very intuitive material, with lots of freedom without the need of many tools to create something out of it. “Just” By using The Hands, from fingertips, fingers, palm. It is very pleasant for the touch, enhances the sensitivity to feel through touch.
Also, clay, -as earth is- holds and supports me when meeting with my hands so I feel safe to travel inwards.
Like an access road to the heart.
I can establish some sort of conversation while shaping clay.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO TRANSMET WITH YOUR PIECES?
Presencia. The stillness that occurs in between movements. Like the pause of a breath.
Self, humanity, and mundane sacredness.
Lots of results are my homework, and the fun of making.
Especially when I glaze, it's itself an intuitive journey of brushstrokes and dives that occurred very fluidly.
The outcome of a meditation.
WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE?
To me Nature is not somewhere you go out for the day, or explore outside the window or in the countryside.
Nature is here. Available all the time. 24/7. Nature is The essence, raw honesty, purity,- and lives in everything when I am present.
In the eyes of my dog, and in a tree, as in a wooden table, The exchange of a smile with a loved one. A sun salutation at the top of the morning.
It’s what I find in the stillness of the breath.
Nature is found in the naturalness of everyday life, in the simplicity of the gestures of the heart.
It is important to protect it because it is reclaiming us, humans. We have been given up for granted, dishonored or forgotten about it. And her life teachings and magic.
Nature is the spirit of living love.
There is joy and wisdom on it- remedies on the plants, compassion on human hearts and fun in the sea.
That’s nature, and we need to protect her because it is guidance to thrive.
Without awareness and care for nature we are lost.
“we human beings are not in charge of the world, but we are subject to the same forces of all the rest of life” (*extrect from Braiding Sweetgrass)
